International Court of Justice

I have acted as advisor, counsel and advocate in more than a dozen of cases before the International Court of Justice, the principal judicial organ of the United Nations, in the Hague. These disputes concerned the law of treaties, the delimitation of land and maritime boundaries, issues of State responsibility and diplomatic protection, statehood, the sources of international obligations, and questions of diplomatic immunity and status.

Counsel and advocate for a South American State in a dispute with another State of the region relating to the construction and operation of two industrial facilities on the banks of the River Uruguay.

Central American State

Assistant counsel for a Central American State in a case against a neighbouring State concerning navigation and related activities on a frontier river.

Eastern European State

Counsel and advocate for the government of an Eastern European State in a case concerning the delimitation of the maritime boundary with a neighbouring State in the Black Sea.

Counsel for an Asian State in a dispute concerning the sovereignty over islands and low-tide elevations in the Strait of Singapore.

African State

Advisor for the authorities of an African State in a dispute with another State in the region concerning the final delimitation of the entire border between the two States..

Central European State

Advisor for the government of a European State in a case against another European State concerning certain property belonging to nationals of the Applicant State.
